Promoting reception and exchange spaces for refugees
Migr'Action Ali-Jan
For many years now, France has been experiencing an increase in migration within its borders. Migrants are mainly concentrated around the country's major urban centers. As a result, many large cities are under strain and are experiencing major difficulties in managing both the accommodation of migrants and their socio-professional integration. Mainly since 2015, the desire to désengorger les villes has come into contact with another French priority, the revitalization of rural areas.
The radiation of French rural areas has been in disrepair for many years. Structural problems in the agricultural sector are concomitant with this trend. For example, although France is the EU's leading agricultural power, the number of farms is falling, due to a lack of qualified operators and employees to take them over, and to competition from larger farms.
These two major challenges gave rise to the idea of the Migr’Action Ali-Jan project. The objectives and expected effects of the project, which is gradually being built up, are numerous. Migr’Action aims to enable migrants to décover concretely the rural world and the agricultural sector by welcoming them for a few days in a farmer's home. Workshops are also held with migrants to help them develop their skills in rural areas, and with farmers to train them in intercultural skills. Ultimately, the project aims to build working relationships between migrants and farmers, and to develop training courses in agricultural trades adapted to refugees. In addition, it aims to enable rural residents to have a positive view of migration and to revitalize these areas.
