Immersion Programs to Promote the Well-Being and Empowerment of Refugees

At the Moulin Butin farm, Adel, Issa, Murtaza, and Samiullah spent a few days immersing themselves in working the land, communal living, and discovering rural life in France. Designed as spaces for hospitality, connection, and knowledge-sharing, these stays contribute to the well-being and empowerment of the refugees hosted there.

In the Perche region, on thethe Bellême Forest, the Moulin Butin farm hosts immersive retreats designed as spaces for connection, learning, and reconnecting with oneself and nature.

In 2025, Adel, Issa, Murtaza, and Samiullah spent several days there with Fanny and Sylvain, the founders of the place. Through exploring organic farming,, discussions about working the land, and shared community experiences, these stays allow the refugees being hosted to discover or rediscover certain aspects of rural and agricultural life in France.

These immersive experiences offer participants a chance to breathe, far from administrative procedures and the worries of daily life. They foster connections, build self-confidence, and help participants establish new points of reference in a supportive environment.

By engaging in hands-on activities with farmers, participants can draw on their own experiences, share their agricultural expertise, and develop a sense of belonging in their new environment.

As Adel, one of the participants, said: “ I was very, very happy with this visit (...) It was a wonderful experience (...) I hope our other brothers will visit this place and see this peaceful life.”

These shared life experiences help empower refugees.
